'Evanescing' is the second of five Orangutan  portraits I am completing that purely focuses on the beautiful animals faces.  I am extremely fortunate, and lucky,  this image as also made it through to the David Sepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year 2023 Final and the Original will be hanging in the Mall Galleries, London 11th - 16th September.

These amazing, gentle creatures share 97% of our DNA yet are on the brink of extinction due to deforestation as well as the horrific trading of wild animals, particularly in the Asian countries.  After attending the 'Eyes of the Orangutan' filming in London, which still haunts me to this day, and watching the inexcusable and horrendous acts done to these beautiful animals I want to help the amazing #bosfoundation and #bos_uk  as much as I am able.

Simply being aware of how an animal is portraid within an image online and not 'liking' or 'sharing';  watching animals performing acts that are simply done for our entertainment; riding animals, particularly elephants, simply for a day out; attending animal circuses to watch them complete tricks or entertain in a boxing ring!  are all things that everyone can help stop doing to end these horrific acts and just thinking about what that animal has, and is, going through simply for a 'photo opportunity' is one step towards ending their suffering.

The portrait has been printed onto Hahnemuhle Natural Line, Hemp.  Hahnemühle Hemp uses one of the oldest and most diverse natural fibres in the world and is made of 60% hemp fibre.  The lightly textured surface gives the paper a pleasant, silky feel.  The acid- and lignin-free Fine Art inkjet paper meets the most exacting requirements for (ISO 9706 compliant) museum quality for highage resistance.  A 290 gsm, 60% hemp fibre, 40% cotton inkjet paper and printed using museum quality archival pigment ink that will last at least 100 years plus. The paper enables you to see every pencil mark that you would expect from the original artwork.

Each print will be personally signed, numbered by me and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Each Print is mounted in Conservation Mount-board, to help protect the artwork, and are 1400 micron (1.4mm) thick and have a crisp 45 degree black bevel on the inner edge, with backboard and bag.

£20 from each print will be donated to the #bosfoundation
